Ms Marvel (2014) #7

Hey hey I drew that!
Ms Marvel 07 is waiting for you in your Local Comic Shop. I drew the pictures, Ian Herring brought the color, G. Willow Wilson wrote the words and Sana Amanat made it all happen.
This issue concludes my little run on Ms Marvel. It was a pleasure and a privilege to be able to work with the brilliant folks who make this book every month, and to contribute what little I can to this character so early in her career.
I love this book.
Kamala is a big deal. Her success, the book’s multiple printings, the wonderful fans that have rallied around it, all of these things tell the story of the change happening in and around comics right now. It’s such an optimistic story, and I love that I got to lend a little ink to it. Thanks to Sana for letting me be a part of this, thanks to Willow for making it SO FUN, to Ian for making me look so much better than I am. And thanks to Kamala’s fans for letting me hang out in their clubhouse for a few months. Y’all have been great company.
-Jake

CNN doing what CNN does.

Lord.

11 Questions.
  • Rule 1: Always post the rules
  • Rule 2: Answer the 11 questions that the person tagged you asked and write 11 new ones
  • Rule 3: Tag 11 people
  • Rule 4: Tell them you tagged them
truelifetristarae tagged me
1. What is the best piece of advice you were ever given?
Always carry your notebook in your back pocket.

2. If you had to teach something, what would you teach?

Pop Culture and Identity: an examination of how interests and culture influence one’s identity development and growth

3. What would your superhero name be, and what would people know you for?

Star-Lord, of course.

4. Describe your life in 6 words.

passionate, insecure, caring, lazy, thoughtful, considerate

5. What is the top item on your bucket list?

Live in a city like NYC/PGH/BOS

6. If you were part of a circus, who would you be and why?

I’ve no idea, and this would probably never happen because I’m genuinely unsettled by clowns. I’d go for contemporary circuses and just want to bug everyone out.

7. What was your last dream about?

Literally was the first day of RA training, and I freaked out when I got to work and realized it wasn’t Tuesday.

8. Describe your perfect day off of work.

Doing anything that isn’t work. That simple; that easy.

9. If you had the ability to wake up with the complete knowledge of one topic, what would it be?

Food. Cooking, baking, all that biz. I want to be a master chef. Not professionally, just in my personal life.

10. Which celebrity would you want to be stuck with in an elevator?

LAURA JANE GRACE OR JEFF ROSENSTOCK

11. Pogo stick or unicycle?

Pogo stick.

here we go party people

1/ if you could change one thing about yourself, but no one would realize it/would just start acting different towards you without realizing or acknowledging why, what would you change?

2/ knowing the world was going to end in the imminent future, what would be the first thing you could do, if money was no object?

3/ is there a time in your life where you were almost or definitely totally happy, and would you go back in time to that place (the one catch being that your life will go in a different direction from that moment and you cannot come back to this timeline [think back to the future 2]). what is that place/time?

4/ is there a movie that you wish was your life? in what ways would that movie be different if you were the lead?

5/ pick your favorite band/artist/musical act. they can now play at your birthday party and everyone will be so excited. who are they?

6/ what is one band/artist/musical act that everyone you know should give a chance and listen to? you’ve heard them so many times and you think that they genuinely may have changed your life for the better and you just want to share them with everyone.

7/ describe a day that would make you happier than you’ve been lately (note: this does not mean happiest, or the happier than you’ve ever been; just lately)

8/ is there an old friend that you’ve lost touch with? if you’ve answered this question honestly, will you then try to reach out to that person? do you know how?

9/ what is a hobby that you have, and that you wish you could devote more time to? is that a hobby you would like as a career? or are you satisfied with it staying as a hobby?

10/ what kind of family would you like in the future? kids? no kids? married? not? suburban? urban? rural? fill me in, dudes

11/ what do you struggle with? what’s something that you know that you aren’t good at (professionally or otherwise) that you’re not only struggling with, but certain that others are not only better at that thing than you, they also look down on you for not being competent?

I’m tagging: saveyourkarma, hopeful-and-unafraid, tentillplaces, efinch, bleat31337, greenmegsandham

and you bet I’m tagging you back, truelifetristarae!

i liked trista’s questions so i answered them, too

Tagged by nowhereme

1. You’ve just become president and by some act of old law you can essentially decree one thing without it going through democratic process and it can not be revoked after your term, what would it be?

I would demilitarize the police. Sorry, you don’t need tanks. You don’t need tear gas. You don’t need sound cannons. You know who’s got the tanks? The National Guard. You can call ‘em in if you need them.

2.What would your ideal housing situation be? What does it look like, where is it at, what is it made of etc?

A clean, brownstone apartment in the city. Preferably NYC/Pittsburgh or another city like that. It’s relatively cheap, and I am within walking distance to a series of punk and rock clubs that share a space with a great coffee shop that I can do my work at. So really, it’s all about LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

3.If you didn’t have one before you now have an amazing singing voice, what role do you take in your musical debut?

Either Man in Chair, Drowsy Chaperone or Princeton, Avenue Q

4.How do you hope others view you in 10 words or less?

Considerate, compassionate, funny, approachable, loving, endearing, responsible, capable, available, consistent

5. You can either live in space or deep in the sea, both are in crazy sci-fi lost city type locations and your friends and family would be on either one your chose.

SPACE. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.

6. If you could have one skill that you completely excel at on top of the other ones you have what would it be?

Making music. Open, shut. I wish I could write a song I was proud of and then go out there and make punk music. Get on stage and just connect with a crowd. It would be sublime.

7. If one Disneyland ride was to become the theme of your life, clothing, job, lifestyle, etc, what would it be?

I’ve no idea. I know next to nothing about Disneyland. Maybe the Indiana Jones one? Because obviously …?

8.What would the title of your biography be?

I Like So Many Things: How to alienate everyone you know one obsession at a time

9.You can interview one person alive or dead, but in a night on the town way not a sit down to coffee chit chat way, who would it be?

Laura Jane Grace or Jeff Rosenstock. They both seem like super fun people, and I’d barely ask them anything about punk music.

10. There’s an envelope that holds just the first name of your “soul mate” do you open it?

No.

11.If you could transform/morph into anything what would it be ?

An elephant.

i love you woman who i thought was in an airplane but now i realize you’re driving

please pay attention to the road though although maybe you’re parked i’ll be quiet now

TUMBLR PROF ANNOUNCEMENT: If you are trans or nonbinary and you are in the same situation as the student above, email your professors before class starts. I understand that it might be uncomfortable, but generally professors are absolutely happy to accommodate you. I know I always will be!

If your professor does not respond positively, contact the Dean or the campus LGBT+ resource center with a copy of the email and show them that you are concerned about gender discrimination in the classroom.

Also this is a link to the template I used to write this email, and I’ve seen another similar template going around, and this was extremely helpful.
